Nineteen of the Russian's 21 titles have been won on hardcourt

A revitalized Medvedev secured his maiden trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

Medvedev, a former world number one, has experienced a torrid season, managing just a single victory at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the American major.

The player's inconsistency on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his serve in specific - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and ultimately separating with former mentor his previous coach.

Currently working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has consistently improved in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over challenger Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first title since the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from spring of that year.

Success also signifies he has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct events.

"It's the first time I have attended a tournament with my two daughters at once, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," stated tennis professional Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the first title I won when my child Alisa was born was for her."

The tennis star, the former major winner, had lost his last six championship matches, comprising in that event earlier this year.

Medvedev's counter-punching approach and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to wonder if his ability to compete at the elite level was finished.

However the 29-year-old has implemented adjustments in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and play assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serve.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, taking four of the final five points to go ahead.

Both players exchanged service breaks in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his initial professional title, gained dominance to push for a decider.

The opponent saved four early-game break points in a competitive deciding set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, he earned the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent unable to manage a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
